Derek Prince was a soldier in the British army in the 1940’s when God spoke to him and told him that he was going to use him for His kingdom and 45 years in a sermon which is the one I listened to he said if God had told him back in 1944 that one day, he would be reaching millions everyday through his ministry he wouldn’t have thought it possible. He likened himself to be like a duck in water – when he was teaching the bible he was always in his element. And like ducks if you take them out of the water, they are somewhat clumsy on land and so also, he felt that this would be true to an extent for most Christ followers – when we’re out of our calling we may end up being like clumsy ducks.
Are you feeling like a duck out of water or are you confident that you are where God needs you to be and doing what He requires of you? If not ask Him,in Proverbs 3:5-6 it says,”Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” The same God who has a purpose for you will be the same God who will enable you to walk in it. In Psalm 32:8 The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”
If you’re thinking that yes I know God had a plan and I even know what it is but I don’t I have the right skills and it seems beyond my reach then remember this The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. (1 Thess 5:24) and in 1 Corinthians 1:9 God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Job 23:14 So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny.
I love a quote from Christine Caine where she says “GOD DOESN’T CALL THE QUALIFIED, HE QUALIFIED THE CALLED “, so as we’ve been called be assured that God will equip you to do that which He has purposed for you.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Exodus 9:16 But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
What God has established will not be shaken, it says so in Psalm 33:11 But the LORD’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.
Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
Finally, why should we walk in the plans He has for us? Simple answer to glorify God, serve Him in 1 Peter 4:10-11 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
We are also blessed and our rewards are not just earthly but eternal as well.
Philippians 3:14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Revelation 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
2 Peter 1:10-11 NLT So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I looked up the history of Jesus Calls this amazing organisation that has been a blessing to so many people worldwide and was humbled to learn of the testimony of how the late brother Dr. D.G.S Dhinakaran encountered Jesus and was filled with this overflowing compassion for the broken and lost that led to the founding of what we know as Jesus Calls today.
What is so beautiful is despite the hardships he faced in his personal life , he continued to pursue the calling that God had placed on his life right till the end and what he has left behind is a legacy that is now being carried down by every future generation in his family. Wow ! There is such a tremendous blessing, a joy, a sense of fulfillment that can only come from being in the center of God’s will for your life.
Our aim in life should be to do the will of God and bring Him glory by walking in obedience to fulfill the calling for which he has created us. So, what is Jesus calling you to today?
Ephesians 1:18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
